Dell iDRAC6
The iDRAC firmware monitors the system for critical events by communicating with various sensors on the system board and sends alerts and logs events when certain parameters exceed their preset thresholds. The iDRAC supports the industry-standard Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) specification, enabling you to configure, monitor, and recover systems remotely.
1. iDRAC firmware boot can not be interrupted in uboot unless the manufacturing mode jumper is installed.2. To avoid the "Login Failure" error when launching Virtual Media, make sure to clear the WebStart cache so that the new viewer is downloaded. To do so, run “javaws viewer” from a DOS prompt and then select and clear out all the WebStart applications in the cache.3. For viewing the Dell signed certificate instead of the Avocent signed one:a. Uncheck "Preserve Configuration" option while updating the firmware via GUI.b. Clear the client java cache using the command "javaws -viewer".4. In order to meet the factory requirements, after updating firmware using DOS utility, it will wait for 90 seconds before returning to command prompt.
